Wednesday is our monthly meeting 7pm at the club unfortunately still no potluck. Again please, bring a mask, corona has not totally disappeared, unfortunately.

If you still have not picked up your FOB Deneen or Jeff Miller usually are at the meetings but, not this Wednesday’s meeting.

As I mentioned in last month’s email. The nominating committee (Thanks Roe) has called the board members. There are two board members that do not want to continue in their positions. We are looking for two members to fill their spots. The open positions are Upper Range Captain and Lower Range Captain. (We do have one volunteer for the Upper Range Captain.) Anyone interested in holding an office please, contact the nominating committee or reply to this email and I will pass it along. We try to get two per position but that does not seem to work these days. The election will be held at the January meeting.

The loggers are done, and they have left a mess behind. We have a lot of work to do before our next outdoor shoot. So, if you need work hours there will be plenty to do. Plus, since we are in the MFL program also we need to start tackling our invasive species also. I will do my best to keep you informed of work parties or who to contact if you are interested in helping to get our ranges back into shape. There will probably be some discussion about the clean-up at the meeting. We hope to start in December as per the October meeting, get hunting season out of the way first.

Do not forget about Winter leagues. They will start January 7th for Thursday Night leagues and January 8th for Friday Night leagues. If you have any ideas of how to get more involved in the leagues please, share. They are a lot of fun, a good way to meet other members and archers. Leagues are open to the public as long as we have room.

THE BIRTH OF AN ARCHERY CLUB
By; Dave Hackett
One icy January evening in 1957, a group of archers met in
BIG FOOT ARCHERS
WELCOME
The club property consists of 40 acres. The clubhouse has a 20 yard indoor range, restrooms, bar and kitchen facilities.
There are 4 outdoor ranges, plus 2 practice ranges and a primitive Campground.
The outdoor ranges are designated ”Upper” , ”Lower”, and Broadhead #1 & #2.
The Upper and Lower Ranges are set up for Field Archery, with excelsior bale backstops and marked yardages. The Broadhead Ranges have sand pits, they also have shooting platforms.
B.F.A. belongs to two rotating leagues with other clubs. One is the Kettle Moraine Field Archery League. This is an indoor 300 League which takes place on weekend’s rotating between member clubs. The second one is the Lakeshore Bowhunters League (LBL) which is an outdoor 30 Target 3D League.
B.F.A. hosts one shoot in each of these Leagues annually.
We will also host 3 Public/Club Shoots each year; a Traditional only shoot ( Mother’s Day Weekend), a 3D shoot in June with our Homemade Targets, with a Dinner set-up each day. In August we have 1 more 3D shoot. Always refer to the club’s annual shoot flyers for dates and shoot details.
THESE SHOOTS ARE OUR MAIN FUND RAISERS. PLEASE PARTICIPATE!!!
Indoor Leagues start in January for 12 weeks.
Thursday and Friday are 300 spot Leagues.
Sundays only is The Arctic Blast Outdoor 3D Coursing through the Woods. During these shoots the indoor range has open Shooting from 1:00-3:00 P.M. (Pay as usual or discuss with your league secretary).
Monday Nights Open Shooting 7:00 P. M. to ?? all year long
From Sept. thru December there are 3D Targets set-up through out the Broadhead Ranges (Field Points only no Broadheads).
Other than regular Leagues there is a Fee for Shooting Indoors or the Outdoor 3D Course, Please sign in on the sheet by the door if you are Shooting Indoors and put the Money in one of the envelopes by the door. Then place the envelope in the metal box by the door. Fees for the outdoor course may be put in the box in the entrance way.
Shooting Fees are posted above the Pop Cooler. The clubhouse and indoor range lights are activated by motion sensors. Do not turn off the wall switches adjacent to the furnace room doorway. If you enter and the lights don’t activate try turning the switch on.
If you change the Thermostat setting, return to proper setting, and be sure to LOCK DOOR. Instructions for operating the Thermostat are posted on the wall.
Beer can only be sold when a Licensed Bartender is on the premises.
Pop and Chips may be purchased on the Honor System. Place monies in the cash register.
Meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of the Month with Potluck at 7:00 P.M. and meeting at 7:30 P.M.
Membership Responsibilities
After being sworn in as new members, you will receive a Board Member directory and a FOB that must be purchased for a minimal fee. This FOB will open the gate and entry door of the Clubhouse.
*Note: This FOB is only sold to Big Foot Archers Members and is not to be shared with non-members.
Providing this FOB to non-members could be grounds for removal from the club.
Membership does not allow members to hunt on club property, but you are welcome to WATCH the wildlife!
“VERY IMPORTANT”
EVERY MEMBER, WORKING AND
NON-WORKING, MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE OTHER MEMBERSHIP MEETING PER YEAR. Club Meetings are held @ 7 p.m. on the 2nd Wednesday of every month starting off with our delicious Potluck Supper! (It is recommended that members attend these meetings so they can be aware of events that are happening at our club.)
If you chose a “WORKING MEMBERSHIP”: It is also your responsibility to:
PUT IN 10 WORK HOURS PER YEAR.
Hours must be verified and signed off by a Board Member. Their phone numbers are listed in the directory that is posted on the bulletin board in the clubhouse.
Work hours need to be performed during Club functions, organized work parties (these are announced at the monthly meetings), Club shoots (Sign-up sheets can be found on clip boards located inside the clubhouse), or at our Annual Banquet.
Any hours short of the required 10 will be billed to the member at a rate of $15 per hour, to be paid before the next membership renewal. It is each member’s responsibility to record their work hours on one of the BFA “Work Hour Cards” and deposit them into the White Metal Lock Box located on the floor by the front entrance to the clubhouse.
HUNTING IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE CLUB PROPERTY.
